A deductible is an amount that you're responsible for in the event of a loss. This is the amount you pay out-of-pocket, and insurance covers the remainder.
A co-pay/co-payment, is a fixed amount of money that you pay out of pocket for a specific medical service or prescription medication at the time you receive it. The amount can vary depending on the type of service or medication and is typically specified in your health insurance plan. For example, you might have a $0 co-pay for a visit to your primary care doctor and a $50 co-pay for a specialist visit. The insurance company pays the remaining cost of the service.
